Description

The Shiraz Qashqai carpet is one of the traditional handwoven rugs of the Qashqai nomads in Fars Province, southern Iran. It is renowned for its geometric patterns, freehand designs and distinctive weaving style. These carpets are inspired by nature, nomadic life and the rich cultural traditions of the Qashqai people.

Diamond shapes, stars, animals, flowers and geometric motifs are among the common elements found in Qashqai carpets. Freehand designs, woven without a pre-drawn pattern, are one of their most distinctive features.

Natural hand-spun wool is the primary material used in these carpets. The use of Turkish (symmetrical) knots and a firm weaving technique contributes to their strength and durability.
