Description
Kashan carpets are among the most famous types of Persian handwoven rugs, renowned for their fine craftsmanship, high quality, traditional Persian designs, and long history. The city of Kashan in Isfahan Province is one of Iran’s historic and important centers of carpet weaving.
Kashan carpets are generally made using high-quality wool, while finer and more luxurious examples may also incorporate silk, either in parts of the carpet or for the warp and weft. One of their notable characteristics is their dense weave and fine knots, which allow intricate details and precise patterns to be created.
Traditional Kashan carpet designs often feature floral and arabesque motifs, central medallions, and Shah Abbasi patterns. Colors such as red, navy blue, cream, turquoise, and various shades of red and blue are also commonly used.
In addition to their beauty and durability, Kashan carpets are considered an important part of Iran’s artistic heritage, with fine examples preserved in private collections and museums.
