Description
Tuyserkan carpet is one of the traditional handwoven rugs of Hamadan Province, known for its geometric patterns, distinctive colours and traditional weaving techniques. Mainly woven in the rural areas of Tuyserkan, these carpets reflect the craftsmanship and artistic heritage passed down through generations of local weavers.
Geometric motifs, central medallions with corner designs (Lachak and Toranj), and traditional freehand patterns are among the distinctive features of Tuyserkan carpets. Some of its local designs are known as Agha Sadeghi, Malicheh and Zagheh.
Navy blue, red, blue, black and cream are among the commonly used colours, creating striking contrasts and enhancing the beauty of the patterns.
Wool is commonly used for the pile, while cotton is used for the warp and weft. Tuyserkan carpets are traditionally woven using the symmetrical (Turkish) knot, often featuring a relatively coarse weave and a thick pile.
Tuyserkan carpets preserve the traditional designs and local characteristics of the region, representing an important part of Hamadan’s rich carpet-weaving heritage. They are an appealing choice for those who appreciate authentic Iranian handmade rugs and traditional rural craftsmanship.
